Open your MetaTrader 5 account

Five steps from registration to your first mirrored trade. Have your ID and a recent proof-of-address document ready before you start — it’s the fastest way through verification.

  1. 01

    Register with a regulated broker

MetaTrader 5 is a trading platform, not a broker — you don't open an account inside MT5 itself. Sign up directly on the broker's website and choose your account type (e.g. Standard, Raw Spread) and leverage. This is also where you'll pick your base currency.

  2. 02

    Complete identity verification (KYC)

Regulated brokers are legally required to verify who you are before you can trade live. You'll need two documents ready:

    • Proof of identity — a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (passport, national ID, or driver's licence).
    • Proof of address — a document dated within the last 3–6 months showing your name and address (utility bill or bank statement).

Upload clear, full-page photos. Blurry or cropped documents are the most common reason verification gets delayed.

  3. 03

Download and log in to MT5

Once your application is submitted, download the platform from your broker's site — not the generic MetaTrader website — since it comes pre-configured with the broker's server details.

    • Open MetaTrader 5 and go to File → Login to Trade Account.
    • Select your broker's server from the dropdown (you'll see this in your welcome email).
    • Enter the login ID and password sent to you after registration.
  4. 04

    Deposit funds

Deposits are made through your broker's client portal, not inside the MT5 app itself. Log in to the portal with your client credentials (these are different from your MT5 login) and go to the Deposit or Funding section.

    • Card and e-wallet deposits are usually instant or take a few minutes.
    • Bank transfers can take several business days.
    • Check your broker's minimum deposit for the account type you chose.
  5. 05

    Attach copy trading

With a funded, verified account, return to the Copy Trading section of the client portal and connect your account to a signal provider. Choose your risk tier and allocation — trades will start mirroring automatically from that point on.

Common questions

How long does verification take?+

Most brokers review KYC documents within one to two business days. If a document is rejected, you'll get an email explaining why — usually a clarity or expiry issue — and can re-upload without starting over.

Can I practice before funding a live account?+

Yes. Most brokers let you open a demo account with virtual funds directly from the MT5 interface, so you can get familiar with the platform before depositing real money.

Is my MT5 login the same as my client portal login?+

No — your MT5 trading login and your broker's client portal login are separate credentials. You'll use the portal for deposits, withdrawals, and copy trading settings, and MT5 itself for charts and trade execution.

Trading CFDs and leveraged products carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.
